Don't you deserve a Mommy Makeover?

Remember what life was like before having children? The leisurely extra cup of coffee in the morning? The romantic weekend getaways? The firm tummy and shapely bustline?

As a mom, you've made your family your first priority. But there comes a time when you need to do something special just for yourself. More and more women are choosing Mommy Makeovers as that something.

What is a Mommy Makeover?

A Mommy Makeover is a combination of plastic surgery procedures to restore your figure to your pre-pregnancy shape—and give your spirits a well-deserved lift as well.

No one has to tell you how pregnancy, childbearing and breastfeeding can change your figure. Even if you still feel young inside, you may have noticed your outer appearance is showing the telltale signs of motherhood.

A Mommy Makeover is tailored to your unique needs and
may include:

  • A breast lift to rejuvenate sagging breasts. In some cases, a breast lift can be combined with breast implants to replace lost volume after breastfeeding.

  • A tummy tuck to remove loose, excess skin from the lower abdomen and tighten overstretched abdominal muscles, restoring your flat pre-pregnancy tummy.

  • Liposuction to remove excess fat deposits from "saddlebag" hips and slim your thighs.

  • An eyelid lift or facelift to counteract the effects of gravity on
    your face.

Want to look younger without surgery and downtime?

Your Mommy Makeover may include non-surgical facial enhancements such as:

How many procedures can be done at one time?

Studies have shown that having more than one plastic surgery procedure at a time is no more dangerous than undergoing a single procedure, as long as the surgery does not take more than 4-1/2 to 5 hours.

Some women who choose to have breast augmentation and a tummy tuck, for example, have both procedures done at the same time. A typical breast augmentation procedure takes 1-1/2 hours, and a tummy tuck takes 2-1/2 to 3 hours, so they can safely be done in combination.

However, other women choose to have breast augmentation surgery, then wait 8 to 12 weeks before having a tummy tuck or other procedures. Dr. Parungao can help you decide what is best for you.

When is a good time to have a Mommy Makeover?

It's advisable to wait until you're done having children before having a Mommy Makeover, as any future pregnancies may undo the improvements from the surgery.

To make sure you're fully recovered from childbirth, you should wait six months after your last pregnancy—or six months after weaning your youngest child to undergo surgery.

A Mommy Makeover can restore a woman's pre-pregnancy figure. This woman had a tummy tuck to remove excess loose skin and tighten the abdominal muscles, and breast augmentation to replace breast volume lost after nursing.

'I'm so glad I did something
for myself!'

Patient: Rachel, age 34
Mommy Makeover: Breast implants and tummy tuck

“I'd been thinking about getting something done for my stomach,” says Rachel, a mom with children ages 12 and 10. “But I never went through with it until a friend who had a tummy tuck and a breast lift came over one day and I saw her results.”

Once Rachel started considering a tummy tuck, she realized she may be a candidate for a Mommy Makeover. “I had some unevenness in my breasts from breastfeeding,” she recalls, “so I figured if I were going to get a tummy tuck, I may as well get my breasts done, too.”

Rachel got saline breast implants and a tummy tuck-and is thrilled with the results. “I was a B cup in one breast and a C cup in the other,” she says. “Now I'm a firm D. And it's incredible how flat my tummy is!

“I run a lot, and I feel so much lighter now. I was used to my tummy moving around, and now it's the top,” she jokes. “I look a lot better in my outfits now. Everything is perky!

“My kids are happy, too,” Rachel adds. “For the past 10 years, I would jokingly tell them, ‘I'm going to go in the kitchen, get a butcher knife and cut off my saggy stomach.’ Now they're glad I don't say that anymore. We even had a nickname for my belly-we called it Sally.”

“For a long time, my husband would say, ‘Why don't you go buy yourself some new clothes?’ or ‘Why don't we just go on a vacation?’ I would do some of those things, but they didn't fulfill me. Now I'm so glad I did something for myself.

“People have noticed a change in my attitude since the surgery,” Rachel adds. “I'm pretty upbeat as it is, but even more so now. After having kids, my figure was the only thing I didn't have confidence in. I'd lost interest in buying clothes. Now I'm a lot more self-assured.

“I used to be so against plastic surgery,” Rachel admits. “I couldn't understand why people would spend the money on it. I'd knock plastic surgery because I never thought I'd get it.

“Now I realize that different things make different people happy. For me, it wasn't clothes, it wasn't jewelry, it wasn't vacations. I have to be happy with myself first, and now I am.

“For the rest of my life, I'll always be a mom and I'll always have to put my children first. A Mommy Makeover is the one thing in my life I had to do just for me. And I don't think that was too much to ask for.”
