‘I feel younger—and a lot more confident!’
Jo, 54, is thrilled with the results of her mini-facelift.
“It went so quickly!” she says, “It took only about 45 minutes—I was even chatting with Dr. Parungao
during surgery.”
“Dr. Parungao made sure I had very realistic expectations of the surgery,” Jo recalls. “He told me he couldn’t promise miracles, but could smooth out my jowls and give me a younger-looking face.”
“Jo has excellent facial bone structure,” Dr. Parungao explains. “When the excess skin was lifted and trimmed away, it took years off her appearance.”
“I could see the results right away!” says Jo. “About a week and a half later, I went to a family birthday party. My dad, whom I hadn't seen in a few months, kept looking at me and saying, ‘Something about you looks so young—but I don't know what it is.’”
“A mini-facelift leaves you looking refreshed—not with the ‘over-operated’ look that people associated with facelifts years ago,” Dr. Parungao explains.

Dentists vying to perform cosmetic surgery
Since 1997, 16 states have adopted language opening the door for dental practitioners to perform cosmetic surgery.
But dentists simply do not have the same depth of surgical training as plastic surgeons. A plastic surgeon’s education includes four years of medical school, plus another seven or eight years in residency programs, practicing plastic surgery under the guidance of experienced physicians.
Dental surgeons study general dentistry for four years and dental surgery for another four years. They spend only 18 months in residency programs practicing dental surgery.

Ask Dr. Parungao
What’s the difference between a
mini-facelift and a thread lift?
Unlike a mini-facelift, a thread lift or suspension lift is a non-surgical procedure. A thread lift uses barbed facial suspension sutures to lift sagging facial skin. Because a thread lift removes no skin, the results are less durable and less predictable than those of a mini-facelift.
