Participate in our Juvéderm study—and receive a complimentary treatment
Wish your face could look younger, without the expense or downtime of plastic surgery? You should know more about Juvéderm, a next-generation hyaluronic acid facial filler from Allergan.
The most popular use of Juvéderm is for smoothing out the grooves in the nasolabial folds or NLFs—the “parentheses” from your nose to the corners of your mouth that tend to deepen as we age. And now there's a promising new Juvéderm injection technique that could offer even greater results.
JuMiR technique treats
the cause of deepening NLFs
“The original treatment technique was to ‘chase’ the NLF groove by filling it in with Juvéderm,” explains Maria Maloto, RN, director of the Skin Elegance Med Spa at the Hinsdale Center for Plastic Surgery. “But a new technique developed by California nurse injector Leslie Fletcher involves injecting Juvéderm in strategic locations above the NLFs.”
“Rather than correcting the fold itself, the Juvéderm midface rejuvenation, or JuMiR, technique corrects the loss of volume in the midface that causes deep NLFs,” Maloto explains.
“Essentially, JuMiR uses Juvéderm to restore the support beams of the midface,” she adds. “Instead of focusing just on the NLFs, we're looking at the bigger picture of how Juvéderm can be used all over the face.”
Already a Juvéderm patient?
You could qualify to participate
in our clinical trial
We are conducting a clinical trial to compare the results of the JuMiR technique with those of traditional NLF injections. You could be chosen to participate in the study if you:
  • Are between ages 40 and 65; and
  • Have had a Juvéderm treatment in our office at least three months ago for moderate to severe NLFs.
If you meet these criteria, please call us at 630.794.0700 to be considered for the clinical trial. We have only a limited number of spaces, so please call as soon as possible if you're interested.
Trial participants will receive a complimentary Juvéderm treatment, as well as Clinique Medical and Vivité skin care products.
JuMiR technique requires less Juvéderm
A JuMiR treatment takes less Juvéderm than injecting directly into the NLFs—and because treatments are priced per syringe, this means more value for you. Any product left over after a JuMiR treatment can be used to treat other facial areas, such as “marionette lines” from the corners of the mouth to the chin.

Nonsurgical procedures
soaring in popularity
Just-released statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery show that 83% of the more than 10 million cosmetic procedures performed in 2008 were nonsurgical.
“Especially these days, women and men are looking for affordable ways to look their best,” says Dr. Parungao. “Lunchtime injectable treatments like Botox and Juvéderm are only a fraction of the cost of surgical procedures—with no downtime.
“And new techniques like JuMiR are improving the results you can expect from these budget-friendly treatments.”
Ask Dr. Parungao
Which treatment technique is more comfortable: direct NLF injections or JuMiR?
JuMiR treatments are less painful than injecting directly into the NLFs. Why? The NLFs are closer to the mouth—one of the most sensitive areas of the face. The cheeks are a less-sensitive area.
JuMiR injections are also deeper than traditional ones. In the cheeks, the deeper the injection, the less you feel.
