Are you trying to treat several skin problems at once—like oily skin and rosacea? You're not alone.
Lia, age 48, recently came to us for help in treating her oily skin and large pores. “I also have rosacea, so my skin is very sensitive,” she explains. “I tried even high-end over-the-counter products like Lancôme and Chanel, but nothing seemed to help.”
In-office treatments improve skin texture, reduce redness
Our aesthetician, Becky O'Sullivan, treated Lia's complexion with IPL photofacials and microdermabrasion. “The IPL, or intense pulsed light, photofacials helped quiet the redness caused by rosacea,” she explains. “Although there's no cure for rosacea, studies have shown that IPL photofacials can reduce it by up to 90%.”
Becky used microdermabrasion to refine Lia's skin texture, carefully avoiding the areas affected by rosacea. “I would go around her cheeks and the tip of her nose, because microdermabrasion can aggravate the redness caused by rosacea,” Becky explains.
Lia is very pleased with the results. “I've been so happy!” she says. “The treatments really helped control the oiliness, especially now in the summer. My face used to feel really heavy. The rosacea is a lot better, too. I really notice the difference!”
PCA at-home skin regimen enhances results
In conjunction with Lia's in-office treatments, Becky recommended an at-home skin care regimen by PCA. These products, specially designed to complement in-office skin care treatments, are available only through medical and skin care professionals.
“PCA products are very easy to use,” says Becky. “You get step-by-step treatment instructions explaining what you need to do each day. The products do exactly what they say they will, and they're very reasonably priced.”
PCA offers skin care programs designed to treat specific conditions, from acne to rosacea, as well as regimens for sensitive skin and age control. “When I evaluate your skin, I will recommend the program that's best for you,” says Becky.
The finishing touch: Juvéderm
Lia was also concerned that her deepening nasolabial folds—the lines from her nose to the corners of her mouth—were making her look older. Dr. Parungao used Juvéderm to smooth out those lines. “This is a much simpler—and less expensive—procedure than facelift surgery,” he explains. “There's virtually no downtime, and the results can last for up to a year.”
