“I'd been thinking about getting something done for my stomach,” says Rachel, a mom with children ages 12 and 10. “But I never went through with it until a friend who had a tummy tuck and a breast lift came over one day and I saw her results.”
Once Rachel started considering a tummy tuck, she realized she may be a candidate for a Mommy Makeover. “I had some unevenness in my breasts from breastfeeding,” she recalls, “so I figured if I were going to get a tummy tuck, I may as well get my breasts done, too.”
Rachel got saline breast implants and a tummy tuck-and is thrilled with the results. “I was a B cup in one breast and a C cup in the other,” she says. “Now I'm a firm D. And it's incredible how flat my tummy is!
“I run a lot, and I feel so much lighter now. I was used to my tummy moving around, and now it's the top,” she jokes. “I look a lot better in my outfits now. Everything is perky!
“My kids are happy, too,” Rachel adds. “For the past 10 years, I would jokingly tell them, ‘I'm going to go in the kitchen, get a butcher knife and cut off my saggy stomach.’ Now they're glad I don't say that anymore. We even had a nickname for my belly—we called it Sally.”
“For a long time, my husband would say, ‘Why don't you go buy yourself some new clothes?’ or ‘Why don't we just go on a vacation?’ I would do some of those things, but they didn't fulfill me. Now I'm so glad I did something for myself.
“People have noticed a change in my attitude since the surgery,” Rachel adds. “I'm pretty upbeat as it is, but even more so now. After having kids, my figure was the only thing I didn't have confidence in. I'd lost interest in buying clothes. Now I'm a lot more self-assured.
“I used to be so against plastic surgery,” Rachel admits. “I couldn't understand why people would spend the money on it. I'd knock plastic surgery because I never thought I'd get it.
“Now I realize that different things make different people happy. For me, it wasn't clothes, it wasn't jewelry, it wasn't vacations. I have to be happy with myself first, and now I am.
“For the rest of my life, I'll always be a mom and I'll always have to put my children first. A Mommy Makeover is the one thing in my life I had to do just for me. And I don't think that was too much to ask for.”
