“After I had my daughter in 2009, I wanted breast augmentation,” says Wendy, age 35.

She's not alone: new statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that for the fifth year in a row, breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the U.S., with 296,000 augmentations performed in 2010 alone.

An important part of getting natural-looking results from breast augmentation is choosing the right size and shape implants. “Based on Wendy's measurements and her build, we selected implants that gave her both increased projection and the proper width for better cleavage,” Dr. P explains. She went from a 34B to a 34DD.

Wendy chose silicone implants, which were inserted through small incisions in the inframammary crease under the breasts. “The tiny scars are not even the size of my pinkie,” she says.

Wendy also asked Dr. P about the raised keloid scar that had formed over her C-section incision. “He said he could open it up and remove the keloids, giving me a flatter look,” she says. “Dr. P did that at the same time as my breast augmentation.”

‘Now I feel more self-confident’

Since her surgery, Wendy has been happy to go shopping for new bras and shirts. “I feel more self-confident,” she says. “I'm a huge workout fiend. Fitness is a big thing for me. I also do fitness modeling and swimsuit modeling as a hobby.

“I'm wide-chested from my workouts,” Wendy explains. “I'm not straight up and down like the Victoria's Secret models; I'm curvier, so Dr. P said I could get away with larger implants.

With my job and all my workouts, I don't want to be so huge that people are looking down at my chest. Dr. P made my breasts look so natural that I can wear regular clothes and look very presentable. And if I want to up-do my breasts for a photo shoot, I can do that as well. So I have the best of both worlds.

“I have a friend who was unhappy with her breast augmentation a few years ago by another plastic surgeon,” Wendy adds. “When she saw my results, she went to Dr. P and had her implants replaced. Now she's very, very happy!”
