 “I always thought I had big arms—too big for my frame,” says Christine, age 57. “And as you get older, your arms don't look so nice anymore. My arms were so flabby!” Wish your upper arms were more shapely?
Now there's a solution—or 2 “There are two basic types of upper-arm problems: too much thickness and hanging skin,” Dr. Parungao explains. Cosmetic surgery offers two solutions: an arm lift or brachioplasty, and liposuction. What can cause upper-arm flab?
How can plastic surgery trim flabby arms? “If you have skin laxity in your upper arms, an arm lift, sometimes in combination with liposuction, can remove excess skin and fat and trim the width of your upper arms,” says Dr. P. “If your only problem is a bit too much fat in your upper arms, liposuction may be all you need,” he adds. “For successful results, you need good skin elasticity, which I can largely determine during your personal consultation. “It's important to realize that arm lift surgery leaves a noticeable scar,” says Dr. P. “But the scar is visible only when you raise your arms, and it fades with time.” ‘Now I can wear tank tops!’ Christine had an arm lift and is thrilled with her results. “I'm really happy now! she says. “I used to wear shirts with 3/4 sleeves so you couldn't see my upper arms. Now I'm wearing tank tops. I even bought myself a bikini!” 
An arm lift removes excess skin and fat from the upper arms. Result: Smooth, youthful contours. Scars, which are visible only when the arms are raised, fade with time.  Isn't liposuction enough enough to trim my upper arms? It may be, but only if you have good skin elasticity and your problem is too much fat, not hanging skin. If you have loose skin, liposuction will actually make the problem worse by removing volume from your upper arms.
